Canadian Government Petition

Canadian Government Petition

It’s time to be heard.  Let the Canadian Government know how you feel about horses being shipped from Canada to other markets to be slaughtered there for human consumption.

CLICK HERE, fill out the form and then be sure to wait for an email to verify your participation in the online petition.

https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-1699

The CHDC’s Eastern Region Director, Shelley Grainger, has started another E-petition e-1699 for Citizens of Canada to call upon the House of Commons in Parliament to halt air shipments of horses exported for human consumption, due to the ongoing violation of Canadian and IATA regulations.  Again, Liberal MP Mark Holland, representing Ajax, Ontario, is e-1699’s sponsor.

E-petitions are published online for 120 days and a minimum of 500 signatures are required for certification and presentation in the House of Commons.  They are then tabled for a government response.  You must be a Canadian citizen in order to sign and you will be asked to confirm your signature by email.

Do you want to tell the Canadian government to end live horse shipments?  Then let them know by signing e-petition 1699 and sharing it with your friends and supporters.

The Nature of Things

with David Suzuki

We built the world around us with horsepower. But what is it that makes humans and horses so perfect for each other? And how have we transformed the wild horse we tamed 6,000 years ago into over 400 specialized breeds today?

To answer these questions, anthropologist-turned-filmmaker Niobe Thompson takes viewers on an epic journey across eleven countries on three continents and back in time to the mysterious beginnings of the horse-human relationship. Over three spectacular hours of cutting-edge science and gripping adventure, Thompson explores the evolution of horsepower, discovers how our ancestors tamed the horse and learns fascinating new insights into the body and mind of this unique animal.

PLEASE NOTE: This lawsuit is specifically targeting the transport of horses by air to Japan and other markets to be slaughtered there for food for human consumption.
